My Dermaplaning Experience
Dermaplaning is a new form of exfoliation that gently removes dead skin and vellus hair (peach fuzz) using a 10 gauge scalpel. Like a typical facial, an aesthetician performs dermaplaning by prepping your skin using a serum that aids in the removal of dead skin cells. Once your face is clean and dry, the aesthetician continues by using a clean, NEW blade, fresh out of it's original packaging and gently glides it over your skin. This is shown in the video below! Once the procedure is done, your skin is left radiant and glowing, as the removal of excess dead skin may leave your skin looking dry and dull.

In my area, there is only one aesthetician performing this procedure at the moment (IG: @lysstet at Beauty Zone By Heidi). Following the facial, she applied a yummy smelling mask treatment for about 10-15 minutes as well as a high frequency procedure that used electricity to kill bacteria below the surface of the skin.
Throughout the entire treatment Alyssa explained what each step incorporated and how my skin benefits from various procedures and products used. She also explained that the type of hair being removed by this blade will not grow back thicker or darker which was one of my main concerns, as well as others that have used this type of treatment. The results last 6-8 weeks, and so far I'm loving how much brighter my skin has been, also making my makeup look smoother and flawless. Additionally, I have noticed how much more effective my normal skincare routine has been since all of the dead skin has been removed.
Dermaplaning is an ideal procedure for anyone with dry to oily skin, because the removal of dead skin cells helps regulate the skins ability to balance moisture naturally. Furthermore, it reduces the appearance of fine lines and creases, as well as acne scars.
